Weight Loss Stopped 1 Week After Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Question Below Submitted By:

I had gastric sleeve surgery on June 20th 2013 and lost 17 lbs in a week. Since then I haven’t lost anything and I’m still on liquids, taking in under 600 calories and working out. I can’t seem to lose weight according to my scale. Is this normal?

Hi Juana,

Congrats on getting your gastric sleeve done last June. Your early weight loss of 17 pounds is great! Having a plateau this early can occur...you just need to make sure you are getting your protein in as prescribed by your surgeon - usually 80 grams per day along with 64 ounces of non-calorie liquids. If you are doing these things, don't worry... the weight will come off.

Everyone loses at different rates.

Good luck.

2 weeks post op sleeve

by: Sherry

Hello i had my sleeve surgery on 5/15/18, I lost 17 lbs in four days and now it has stopped. I am on protein, liquid, and little walking as suggested by the doc.

Am I going wrong somewhere? I am stressed cuz weight loss has always been an issue for me. If it is a stall.. how long and why does it happen? What is the reason of weight not coming down.

Please help. Thanks

Not loosing

I am 2 weeks post op gastric sleeve and I lost 12 lbs since surgery but now I’ve stopped I'm thinking it’s because I'm not getting my protein in 😞

I can’t stomach another protein shake. HELP
