I am 3 years post gastric sleeve surgery. I lost 62 kilos (137 lbs) in the first 10 months (weighed 124 kilos – 273 lbs – prior to surgery). I had diabetes and was insulin dependent. I am no longer diabetic
I have had no complications post-op. Went home on day 3 and only needed Panadol twice (for pain) when I got home.
I did not exercise at all during the weight loss. I ate off a very small plate, had no carbs, etc.
I fluctuate now between size 12 to 14 jeans. This really depends if I stay on track with no carbs. It is getting harder to maintain.
Now I am having hypnotherapy to be more positive about healthy living. And I will be seeing a dietician regularly.
This is life long. The sleeve only assists you. But the work is up to you. Also I feel the need to deal with food addiction and emotional eating.
I often look in the mirror and see a large person, hence the positive thinking with the hypnotist.
This surgery changed my life. And no more insulin injections is a huge plus.
