Best Pill for Bad-Smelling Gas

Question Below Submitted By:

Pamela (a patient from Mercer Island, WA)

I had a gastric bypass 2 years ago and have the most horrible smelling gas most of the time.
I have heard there are some kind of pills to control or reduce the foul smell.

I would never hesitate to suggest this surgery to anyone. I am no longer obese. I no longer am diabetic. Every thing about my life is so much better and I believe I have added 10 years to my life. I was 61 years old when I had surgery.

Hi Pam,

Well, I took too long getting to an answer for you, and I see from your comment below that you have done it yourself.

Actually, have never heard of Devrom, but if it works that well, I will be telling my patients about it....

Thanks for the new info!

Good Luck, and glad you are doing so well.

The answer to stinky gas is bismuth subgallate, under the trade name "Devrom". The phone for the company is The Parthenon Company, 800-453-8898 or just do a computer search for "Devrom". I have used this for several weeks now and it REALLY WORKS ! It was invented for ostomy patients. Thank heavens for Devrom. Now I don't have to be embarrassed daily. Good luck to all and enjoy your new non smelly future.

Devrom is the best!

I went through a period of having very smelly gas, too, and Devrom really is like a miracle cure. The only thing it does is remove the odor of the gas, so it isn't a cure for painful gas, bloating, etc., but it is so effective, I can't believe it isn't more popular.
