Experience
Dr. Frank Chae is a bariatric surgeon currently serving as the Chief Surgeon of National Bariatric Center in the Denver Suburb of Lonetree and the Medical Director of the Bariatric Surgery Program at Sky Ridge Medical Center. He also works for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment on the Obesity Treatment Panel. Finally, Dr. Chae is a Site Inspector for the American College of Surgeons, where he inspects sites for the Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence accreditation.
In addition to his current positions, Dr. Chae is also a pioneer of bariatric surgery in Colorado, having founded the state’s first comprehensive Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Surgery program for weight loss at the University of Colorado. He is also a teacher and examiner in Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery at both the state and national educational programs for the medical community.
Previously, Dr. Chae served at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in several positions, including:

Dr. Chae belongs to several prestigious organizations including, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Education
Dr. Frank Chae received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University and his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal. He did his surgical residency at Rutgers and a surgical fellowship at the George Washington University Medical Center. He also underwent post-graduate studies at both the University of Pittsburgh and Harvard.
