Forget about being in the "clean your plate" club!

by Yvonne McCarthy (Bariatric Girl)
(Dallas, TX)

Here's a test. If your friend, husband, or significant other brought home a big cheesy pizza as a treat and you know it isn't good for you could you throw it away?

I know you're thinking it's a waste aren't you? There are starving children in China (that's what my parents said). My little brain was already trying to figure out how to ship them food when my mom shared that with me as a child.

Not too long ago my husband brought a couple of pieces of pizza home just for me. Granted I am ten years out and have been at goal since reaching it but I have a rule that I don't indulge in that type of food unless I am at least 5 pounds under goal. I am so very strict about this and it has worked.

That day I wasn't under goal and was actually a couple of pounds over. I am never ever 5 pounds over. It looked great and smelled better but I reasoned that I could eat it and feel badly or I could put it down the disposal. It's gone either way right?

It was incredibly liberating when I put it down the disposal. WOW! That felt powerful. I know many of you are thinking it was wasteful but it would have also been wasteful to ruin the progress that I've worked so hard for too.

It's hard to break the habit of being a member of the "clean your plate" club but this new lifestyle is all about being healthier and making better choices than we did in the past.

Many blessings,
Yvonne

Thank you...

I love this Yvonne and it reminds me of my vending machine fiasco in the hospital that YOU came and rescued me from. It is such a good feeling to be in control of these things but I have realized that there are some days that I am stronger than others and I am so thankful for my support system that is there to help me when I am weak. Thank YOU!
