Worried About Weight Gain After Gastric Bypass Surgery

by Maryann

I am very worried about weight gain after gastric bypass surgery. A lot of people I know have lost weight after surgery and then gained quite a bit back.

I have lost 90 lbs. since my gastric bypass surgery and am worried that I will start to gain it back. Any suggestions on what to do to make sure it stays off or if I start to gain weight what to do to loose it again?

I must confess I’m not very good at sticking to exercising, I just can’t get motivated to do that.

Thanks for you help,

Hello Maryann,

The only way is to eat healthy foods and exercise to keep your weight down permanently . Your gastric bypass is only a tool to help you make healthier choices.

The reason that patients regain weight is that they start eating unhealthy foods, which are high in calories. Right now is the time to change your habits… if you do this you will not regain. As time goes by, you will be able to eat more so making the changes now is very important. Do not wait until you start gaining to change your eating habits.

You have been giving a great tool that can help you live a healthier life.
