About Dr. Ng

Dr. Ng, a Raleigh native, received his undergraduate degree from Davidson College. He attended medical school and surgical residency at the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, where he also completed specialty post-graduate training in laparoscopic bariatric surgery.

Dr. Ng is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. His areas of special interest include bariatric surgery, advanced laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery, single incision/hidden scar surgery, laparoscopic colorectal surgery, and laparoscopic hernia repair.

Dr. Ng is an expert in Minimally Invasive Surgery and serves a national preceptor teaching techniques in single incision and hidden scar laparoscopic surgery.

About Dr. Sharp

Dr. Sharp, a Virginia native, earned his undergraduate degree at Duke University. He completed his medical degree and surgical training at Emory University in Atlanta and returned to Duke for a fellowship in bariatric and advanced minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Sharp is the Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery services at Rex Healthcare and he is excited to further expand the Excellence in Bariatric care at Rex Hospital.

Dr. Sharp is certified by the American Board of Surgery, Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and a Fellow with the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. He has performed research on various topics including outcomes of weight loss surgery, exercise physiology, and renal failure.

About Dr. Bermudez

Dr. Bermudez, a native of Massachusetts, earned his undergraduate degree at Tufts University. He earned his medical degree at the Stanford School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California. Dr. Bermudez completed his general surgical residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He then pursued a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at East Carolina University and the Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

Dr. Bermudez is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and is also a Fellow with the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric surgery as well as the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Bermudez has published several papers and presented at national meetings on the topics of wound healing and bariatric surgery.
