About
Dr. Williams
Dr. Michael Williams attended the University of Maryland where he graduated Magma Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He earned his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine.
Dr. Williams received his surgical training at the Brooklyn Hospital Center. He continued his training with a minimally invasive surgery fellowship from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. His laparoscopic skills are exemplified by his awards in the laparoscopic skills shoot out competition at the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress in 2001 and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons meeting in 2002.
Dr. Williams principal clinical and research interest include minimally invasive surgery techniques, and the surgical therapy for morbid obesity. He has been involved in training surgeons in laparoscopic techniques in the United States and the Caribbean.
Michael
Michael went from 416 lbs to 242 lbs over 2 years and is now completely free of prescription medication. Prior to Gastric Bypass surgery, Michael took multiple drugs, had high blood pressure and joint pain. He has gone from a size 5XLT shirt to 2XL and says “thanks to Dr. Williams for making this a reality for my family.”

My gastric bypass gave me a new life. I was 307 lbs, 5’2 with close to 60% body fat, and a dress size of 26-28. Today I weigh 163.2 lbs and wear size 10 pants. There is not a single part of my life that was not improved by losing this weight. Having gastric bypass surgery was one of the BEST decisions I’ve ever made. I was about 110 lbs over weight. My dream was to be a size 12 and I have exceeded my own goal and have maintained my weight for the last 5 months. The first few weeks are hard but, it’s SOOOO worth it!
