Peter LePort, M.D. Hidden Copy: Dr. LePort is a general surgeon with more than 30 years of experience as a bariatric surgeon. At his Orange County Smart DIMENSIONS bariatric surgery practice, Dr. LePort has helped thousands of people regain control of their lives through surgical weight loss.
In 1985, Dr. LePort started the Smart DIMENSIONS program in California to help his obese patients lose significant weight and regain control of their lives. Patients soon arrived from Los Angeles and Orange County as word of mouth spread about the effectiveness of Dr. LePort’s program.

Mir B. Ali, M.D. Hidden Copy: Dr. Ali joined the Smart DIMENSIONS surgical team in 2000 as a gastric bypass and LAP-BAND System surgeon serving patients from Los Angeles, Orange County, and throughout the world. Since that time, his patient base has grown immensely.
He completed his residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. While serving as a Navy physician, Dr. Ali was decorated for outstanding service after providing medical care to more than 1,000 Marines in several countries as a solo physician. Dr. Ali left the military as a Lieutenant Commander to pursue a career in private practice.
Michael Russo, M.D.
Michael Russo, M.D. Hidden Copy: Dr. Russo is a board certified and fellowship-trained bariatric, gastroesophageal and general surgeon. He specializes in minimally-invasive and robotic techniques to provide his patients with the best possible results.
Recognized as a leader in his field, Dr. Russo served as an assistant professor and director of the Southwestern Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas (SCMIS), a state-of-the-art education and simulation facility.
Dr. Russo’s main research interests involved enhancing surgical education and developing advanced medical education technologies. He has published several journal articles and holds a patent for an augmented-reality telementoring (ART) platform that enables medical professors to interactively teach laparoscopic surgery to up-and-coming physicians.
