Obese from the Heart: A Fat Psychiatrist Discloses

Obese from the Heart is an easy read and is written by Dr. Sara Stein. She is amazing and has a gift of explaining exactly what it feels like when you are dealing with obesity. She gives us answers to our questions about obesity and she covers stress, depression, anxiety, anger and so much more. Here's a small excerpt about depression:

"Unlike anxiety, which is a state of constant motion, the hallmark of depression is paralysis. Even if the Garden of Eden is on the other side of your doorstep, and you can see the lushness and beauty and serenity, you still have to take a step forward to get there. When you have horrible, crippling, vegetative depression, that step might as well be the Grand Canyon, and I might as well be asking you to fly."

She truly understands us and offers so much great advice. She shines a light on the disease of obesity and gives us some tools to deal with the psychological aspects. Again, it is an easy read and it's a book that I've gone back to again and again. I hope you'll get a chance to pick it up or order it online!
