Bariatric Surgery Source

How to Get the Most Out of this Site

The advice on this page will help you find the information you are looking for – plus lead you to important facts, research and tips you may not otherwise have found – quickly and easily. When you finish reading this page, you will know how to squeeze the most out of Bariatric Surgery Source to help you reach all of your goals…

Take for Free, But There’s a Catch...

Bariatric Surgery Source is completely free and always will be. We have hundreds of (often lengthy) pages of painstakingly researched content relating to all angles of bariatric surgery and obesity. And we continue to add new free content weekly.

So what’s the catch? Nothing’s really free, right?

The only caveat is this: if you find any of the information on our site useful, please help us and other visitors in one of 4 ways:

YOUR Weight Loss Journey

Help visitors like you by sharing your advice related to this page or other topics...

  • This is where the link to the form would be. Click here to share your story.
  • Rather share later? Set up a reminder email.

    1. Your opinions and advice matter! Share your thoughts or experiences about any aspect of weight loss surgery or obesity.

Click the above link to find a list of all the possible topics for your contribution.

In addition, you will find boxes like the one to the right located throughout the site. The topics in these boxes usually relate to the page you are reading and provide links to corresponding submission forms (sometimes they link to accordion boxes, in which case you can find the form by clicking the accordion box to expand it).

Each of your contributions will have its very own web page created on Bariatric Surgery Source. They can either be anonymous (you don’t even have to give us your email address) or include your name, location and/or a picture.

Other visitors will be able to review your contributions, comment on them, and ask you questions about them. You can also come back to your pages to answer questions or add additional information later on.

    1. Wherever you see polls (like the one to the right), submit your anonymous opinion. Some of the polls also allow you to add comments by clicking the “Comments” link when you are viewing the results (the "Comments" link would only appear when you are viewing the poll results after you have voted).

    2. If you find a page you really like (our home page or any other page), link to it from your blog or website. The simplest way to do this is by using the “Share this page” box at the bottom of every page.

Simply click the text that says “Enjoy this page? Please pay it forward,” then copy and paste the code that’s displayed. To show you what to look for, we've included one of the boxes just below the next point. Give it a try by clicking "Enjoy this page" now...

    1. Click the social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) buttons to let others know you like a page. Just click the buttons in the “Share this page” box at the bottom of each page! You can click the buttons in the box below (which is the same box you'll see at the bottom of every page) to give it a shot.

At a minimum, your help will provide others with information they may not have known before. At a maximum, your advice could save lives by helping others avoid pitfalls and make the right decisions.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Navigate with Speed and Accuracy

The good news is that there's a LOT of unique and well-researched information throughout Bariatric-Surgery-Source.com.

The bad news? The amount of information may at times be intimidating or make specific topics seem difficult to locate.

Regardless of what weight loss surgery or obesity information you are looking for, there’s a good chance that you will find it (or a link to it) somewhere on our site. But with so much content, how can you find what you’re seeking quickly and easily every time a question comes up?

These 9 site navigation tips will make you a Bariatric Surgery Source pro…

    1. search exampleUse the search boxes - The Google-powered search boxes found at the top of the left-hand column and towards the bottom of every page allow you to find specific topics quickly and easily.

search bottom exampleSimply type in any keyword or key phrase (i.e. “gastric bypass”, “obesity”, etc.) and click “Search” (or hit “Enter” on your keyboard) and your search results will be displayed. Then click the link that best describes what you are looking for.

    2. Start with main categories – The main categories of Bariatric Surgery Source’s content are found in 3 places on every page. Notice the consistency in the topics found in each of the following locations:tab example
      • The tabs at the top
      • The navigation headings in the left column
      • The links at the bottom
nav exampleFor example, “Bariatric Treatment” has a tab at the top, a heading in the left navigation column and a link at the bottom of every page. Clicking on the main categories will take you to a summary page that will either have the information you're looking for under that topic or guide you towards more specific information.

    3. Choose a subcategory – If you want to get more specific than the main categories, then subcategories can be found in the left navigation column. For example, the 1st subcategory of “Bariatric Treatment” is “Is It Right for You?”, the 2nd subcategory is “Bariatric Treatment Overview”, etc.

    4. 1st paragraph links exampleUse the links below the 1st paragraph(s) at the top of each page – Almost every page has a list of links just below the first paragraph or two. These links directly correspond with the sections on that page.

If you want to read everything about that page's topic, simply scroll down the page to read all of the information. If you have a specific area of interest, click the links to jump down the page to your section of interest.

    5. Click on links for more information – Every link throughout our site will take you to one of three places:
      1. Other sections on that page (like the links below the 1st paragraph(s) and Back to Top links)
      2. Other pages within our site
      3. Away to other websites for important related information. Also called "external links", these links will always open in a new tab or window. If you want to come back to our site, simply close the new tab/window and our page will be waiting for you in the original tab/window.
    6. back button exampleUse your browser’s (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.) “Back” button – If you click a link and don’t find what you’re looking for where it takes you, just click the back button at the top of your browser.

It should take you right back to its link on the previous page. Click the back button more than once to continue “backing up” to previously viewed pages.

    7. also see example“Also see” links – Found towards the bottom of almost every page, the Also See links will take you to pages related to the page you’re on.

    8. “Back to” links – Also found towards the bottom of every page (below the Also See links), the “Back to” links will take you back to more general topics/categories.

back to exampleFor example, “Weight Loss Surgery Insurance” is more specific than “Bariatric Surgery Financing”, so you will find a “Back to Financing Bariatric Surgery” link at the bottom of the insurance page.

    9. back to top example“Back to Top” links – Found throughout every page, “Back to Top” links (like the one at the end of this section) will jump you back up to the top of each page. This provides a quick way to navigate back to the links below the 1st paragraph(s) when you finish reading a particular section.

    10. Back to the home page – if you ever want to get back to our home page to “start your exploring from scratch”, click one of the following:
      • Bariatric Surgery Source logo at the top of every page
      • “Home” tab at the top of every page
      • “Back to Bariatric Surgery Source Home Page” link towards the bottom of every page
      • “Home” link in the footer (very bottom) of every page

Bookmarking let’s you save a page for easy future reference.

At the top of the left column of every page you’ll find a Bookmark button that looks like this…

To bookmark the page you’re on, hover over the button and choose your bookmarking tool of choice (go ahead, try it on the button above now!)
