Gastric Bypass Revision and Still No Weight Loss

by Shelby
(Modesto, CA, USA)

I had gastric bypass surgery and lost 125 lbs. After three years I started gaining weight back rapidly (30 lbs in four months) - I freaked! My eating pattern was the same as one year out.

I had a revision doctor say that my stoma stretched slightly. I had the revision on Oct. 2010 and still have had no weight loss at all. I am starting to gain again....please help

Get back to the basics
by: Emily Gomez (Weight Lost Hope Gained)

Hello Shelby, Yvonne said it well. Get in touch with your inner self and what is driving eating habits if that is an issue.

Also, get back to the basics. Journal your food, thoughts, excerise, and liquid intake daily.

No eating and drinking together. I hope that doing what Yvonne said first and getting back to the basics will help.

Let me know if you need anything else. After you get some journaling under belt and if you are still having problems I would revisit your dietician with your journal in hand and see where changes could possibly be made. Hang in there my friend!

Emily

I have some questions
by: Yvonne McCarthy (Bariatric Girl)

Hi Shelby. What kind of revision did you have? It is not all that rare to find that someone's stoma has stretched. I am positive mine has. The thing is...it's hard to try to use your surgery as the total control of weight loss. It's only a tool and once we get down to a certain weight we have to act just like every other normal person who has to fight gaining weight. It will never completely keep the weight off so I suggest you start to investigate why you are eating to self medicate. I know that's how I became obese in the first place and until I learned to manage my stress and how I reacted to it, I couldn't possibly win this battle.

You've got to get a handle on it right now or you will possibly continue to gain. Make a plan and stick to it. Let me know if I can help OK?
