HI Tim,

Hiccups after weight loss surgery is usually a sign that patients have overeaten or have eaten too fast.

It can be prevented by eating a bit slower than she is eating right now and checking the quantities and reducing it a bit until she finds the right amount for her.

Slowing down will help her avoid gulping air while she eats or drinks.

Hiccups

by: Michelle

You said in an earlier comment the you hiccup because of eating to much or to fast. I have had the lap band for a year and I get the hiccups especially in the mornings and I haven't eaten anything yet. Only drank Coffee and a little bit of water. I do hiccup if I eat to fast or much as well but why would I get the hiccup before hand?

I too get hiccups after eating. It happens quite often. So I will slow down and eat less. Thank you
